FRIENDLY COMPETITION
Members are able to gain experience over a large variety of courses thanks to both resident and visiting international course designers. In addition to show jumping, horse and pony showing competitions are also held and it is here, in the leading rein classes, that our youngest members are found.
Each year, increasing numbers of local members travel with their horses to compete with some success on the mainland and some have qualified locally and jumped in England at regional final level. Visiting teams of riders bring their horses here to compete at our Liberation Day Horse Show and enjoy Jersey hospitality. Traditionally, Guernsey field a senior and junior team for some annual inter-island rivalry. The sport of show jumping is enjoyed by around 250 members at present. BSJA Jersey’s aim is to encourage and increase this participation and to reach a high standard of competition.
