ENCOURAGE, PARTICIPATE, COMPETE

The British Show Jumping Association, Jersey (BSJA Jersey) has its roots in the 1950s.  Once a branch of the National BSJA, the association is now run independently but maintains close links with this governing body of the sport of show jumping in the UK.

ABOUT US

The BSJA Jersey Show Ground is situated in the centre of Jersey within easy reach of all parts of the Island.  The jumping arena is irrigated throughout the season and always maintained in tip-top condition, rivalling the best English venues.

From April to September we run competitive events on our grass arena and in the winter from October to March we move to our All Weather Surface to run winter heights events and cater for a membership with a wide range of ages and abilities.  Riding horses and ponies from novice to experienced Grade A.

FRIENDLY COMPETITION

Members are able to gain experience over a large variety of courses thanks to both resident and visiting international course designers.  In addition to show jumping, horse and pony showing competitions are also held and it is here, in the leading rein classes, that our youngest members are found.

Each year, increasing numbers of local members travel with their horses to compete with some success on the mainland and some have qualified locally and jumped in England at regional final level.  Visiting teams of riders bring their horses here to compete at our Liberation Day Horse Show and enjoy Jersey hospitality. Traditionally, Guernsey field a senior and junior team for some annual inter-island rivalry.  The sport of show jumping is enjoyed by around 250 members at present.  BSJA Jersey’s aim is to encourage and increase this participation and to reach a high standard of competition.
